Applying for and receiving your undergraduate loans

Here are step by step instructions to receive
your Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized Loans. Remember that these actions need to be completed
by you, the student, since the loan is your responsibility and will affect your credit.
You will need a completed FAFSA and be enrolled in six credit hours or more to be eligible.
The first action is to complete your Entrance Counseling. Log on to studentloans.gov; you
will only need to complete Entrance Counseling once while you are a student at the University
of Saint Francis. Entrance Counseling is a short tutorial that will inform you of how
your student loans work, how to use them successfully and other important information.
The next step is to complete your Master Promissory Note, or MPN. The MPN is your promise to repay
your loans after graduation. Like Entrance Counseling, the MPN only needs completed once
while you are a student at the university. Once the Office of Financial Aid receives
electronic notification that your entrance counseling and MPN have been successfully
completed, your funds will be sent to USF electronically from the federal government
to pay towards your account on or after the first day of the semester.
