Kaylene’s Greenhouse – Pay it Forward | Mountain America Credit Union
(dramatic music) So, right here is the greenhouse, and this is where I start all of the plants. Kaylene Hyatt doesn’t claim to be an avid gardener. I think I know everything but I really don’t. (chuckles) But she definitely has a green thumb. So I have about 18 tomato plants. Kaylene grows everything from produce to herbs in her small backyard garden. It’s therapeutic, and I can give back to the community as well. She gives away what she grows to the people in need in her area. We all need help sometimes. Most of her neighbors are seniors who could use the fresh food. I was a single mom for many years, and I appreciated any food that was given to me because that helped with the bills. She sets up stands around the community that she keeps stocked for anybody to take. You name it, I’ve grown it. She works year round to feed her neighbors and spends time in the garden every single day. I said I work two jobs, so when I get home from work, even if it’s 9 o’clock at night I’m out here watering and, Others donate food to Kaylene’s stands and she even buys more produce if needed. I don’t feel like I’m doing anything out of the ordinary that somebody else wouldn’t do. Tony Rasmussen from Mountain America Credit Union has a surprise for Kaylene. We’re here today to pay it forward to you, Oh my word, are you kidding me? I’m not kidding you. We have $500 that we’re going to give to you so you can continue growing and giving lots of love. Oh my gosh. We want to say thank you. Oh my god, thank you so much. This will come in handy so much, you don’t even know.
